During the first two weeks of April 2011, Berkeley City College students led a pledge drive to get people to move their money out of the big corporate banks and into socially responsible credit unions. Here are the statistics from our pledge drive:
35 people signed the pledge
Of these, people pledged to withdraw from the following banks:
Bank of America - 17 people
Wells Fargo - 7 people
Chase - 5 people
Other (Citibank, Bank of the West, Mechanics Bank, US Bank, declined to state) - 6 people
Thanks to everybody who moved their money!! And congratulations!!
...from corporate banks and into socially responsible credit unions and community banks.

The teach-in and community day were a great success!
Thanks to everyone who attended our teach-in and community day, and a special thanks to the speakers, credit union representatives, student dj's and organizers of the events. Check out our slide show of the community day. The teach-in was recorded in part, so hopefully we will be able to post it here for posterity.
